Bounty Hunters Update:

There's a new version of the game! We got your feedback and tried to address the problems some of you were having. The new version has fixes that help with firewall and game launch issues, connection errors, and general stability. There are still issues if you try to host a game from Vista. So if you're running on Vista, please only join games instead of hosting them.

If you've installed the game before, just click the PLAY NOW button on the Web site to update to the new version. Once you start playing, be sure you see "version 1.4.0.0" in the lower right corner of the game lobby screens to make sure you have the newest version. For general trouble with the Download/Play button, see the first Technical FAQ question below.

Please continue to send in your feedback here. We can't always respond to every email, but your reports will help us make the game even better.

Sincerely,

I'm having problems with the Download/Play button. It doesn't work, it doesn't show up, or the wrong choice shows up. So I can't click it to download or play the game.
If the Download/Play button doesn't show up or doesn't work properly for you, use the following links to download and play the game:

Download Full Game (if you've never downloaded the game before)

Download Latest Update (if you've downloaded an earlier version of the game)

After you've finished downloading and installing the game, click below to start playing:

Play the Game
I cannot successfully install the game.
Make sure you have Administrator rights on your computer.
When I click QUICK MATCH or JOIN GAME, the game closes. What should I do?
Make sure you have downloaded and installed the newest version of the game, and try again.
What can I do when the game locks up or freezes?
If the screen is blank and nothing is happening, there are a few immediate things you can try:
  • Hold down the Alt key and tap the Tab key. This should minimize the window.
  • Hold down the Alt key and tap the F4 key. This should close the current window.
  • If your keyboard has a Windows button, press it. This should bring up the Windows start bar.
  • Hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys at the same time, then press Delete once. This will bring up the Windows Task Manager. From there, you can manually shut down the game.
If these steps fail to get you out of the lockup, you will have to restart your system. If you cannot turn the system off normally, try pressing and holding down the power button for at least ten seconds.

Once the computer is back up, make sure you have downloaded and installed the newest version of the game, and try again.

I have Windows Vista as my operating system, and I always have trouble hosting a game.
Windows Vista still has issues with hosting games. If you're running Windows Vista, you should only join games, not host them.
When the game launches, it freezes or crashes at the logo screen with the message "Boot Sequence Complete."
Make sure you have downloaded and installed the newest version of the game, and try again.
I see this message whenever I try to join a game: "Sorry, the game could not connect through your firewall and/or the firewall of the host (the player who created the game.) Please try joining a different game."
Either your firewall settings or the host's firewall settings are too strict. The requirements for hosting are a little higher, so most times, it's the host's firewall that causes the problem. Try joining a different game hosted by a different player.

Disabling firewalls does not help. Unfortunately, in most cases, simply disabling your firewalls/proxies will not allow you to play the game, because it will not open the ports you need. Disabling will just shut down the firewall/proxy, and the ports will remain closed. In addition, other factors may conflict with your firewall: Internet Connection Sharing, using more than one firewall at a time, or your operating system could all create conflicts that keep you out of the game. To get help for these issues, you should contact the manufacturer of your firewall/proxy.
Why don't any other players ever join my game when I create one?
Your Internet connection may not be fast enough to host games. You should have at least a 256kbps upload speed to host up to a 4-player game, and 512kbps for hosting up to 8 players.
The game crashes whenever I try to join or create a game.
Any applications you have running in the background on your computer will have a negative impact on gameplay and video performance. Some applications can cause more serious issues like limited or reduced connectivity and game crashes. To get the best performance and the most stable game experience, it is highly recommended that you close all background applications before launching Ben 10 Alien Force Bounty Hunters. When you finish playing, feel free to reopen these applications.

Whenever I host a game, I experience lag.
Your internet connection may be too slow to host games. Make sure you have at least a 256kbps upload speed to host up to a 4-player game, and 512kbps for hosting up to 8 players. Try hosting smaller (2-4 player) games or join a game instead of hosting.
Whenever I join and play a game hosted by somebody else, I experience lag.
The game host's Internet connection may be too slow to host a game of that size. We will be releasing features soon to help game hosts better prepare their games. In the meantime, you should try joining another game. Join smaller (2-4 player) games to lower the chance of getting into a laggy game.

What is Ben 10: Alien Force Bounty Hunters?

Ben 10 Alien Force Bounty Hunters is a free online action game that features real-time multiplayer battles, which means players compete against each other at the same time. Because the game offers a rich multiplayer experience, it requires a small, one-time download to your computer.

How do I download and install the game?
  1. Click the Download Game button.
  2. When you see the installation screen, click the Run button.
  3. When the installer starts, click the Next button and follow the instructions.
  4. Please carefully review the End User Access and License Agreement. If you agree to the terms, please selecte "I have read and accept the EUALA." If you do not agree to the terms, please select "I do not accept the EUALA."
  5. When the installation is complete, you should see a Play button at the top of the screen.
  6. Click the Play button to start battling!
Can my child play Ben 10: Alien Force Bounty Hunters without an account?

Yes! Anyone can start playing immediately. But if you want a unique screen name and want to keep stats on all your battles, wins and losses, you need to register for an account.

How does my child register for an account? What information do they have to provide?

Click the login link, (if you already have an account) or register (if you don't have an account yet).

First, players enter a unique user name for the account and a password they will type in anytime they wish to access the account. Then they enter their gender, state or province, birth date and e-mail address. Finally, players must accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and click the NEXT button to activate their account.

I see you ask for an e-mail address during registration. How do you use e-mail addresses?

For children under the age of 13, we will ask for the child's e-mail address, which will not be stored in a retrievable form but instead using a “hash” or unique code generated from the email address that will allow us on a one-time basis to respond to an inquiry from the child regarding a lost user name or password. We also may ask for a parental e-mail address for children under age 13 who register in order to provide notice to the parent that his or her child would like to participate in registration for certain interactive features. For individuals age 13 and over, we may collect and store an e-mail address to use in the case of forgotten passwords and to send newsletters and/or marketing information for which the individual has consented.

How much interaction is there between players?

There's lots of gameplay interaction, since players are actively battling against other players in real time. Players can play on teams with their friends or play against each other in free-for-all battles. However, the interaction outside of actual gameplay is limited to a simplified chat function.

Can players share personal information with other players?

No. Players are identified only by the screen name they choose when they register for an account. The chat function in the game consists only of pre-written phrases, with no free typing.

How does chat work?

Players can chat with each other while they are waiting in a game room for other players to join. The chat function uses a list of pre-written phrases in a simple menu system. It's easy for players to choose what they want to say with just a couple of clicks.
